Looking After Your Blue Plaque Outdoors
Our plaques are designed for both indoor and outdoor display and are made using durable materials. With a little basic care, they will stay looking great for years to come.
They are hard-wearing and made for real everyday use, but they are still a decorative 3D-printed plaque rather than a full cast metal plaque. For most customers, they perform brilliantly outdoors, but sensible placement will always help maximise their lifespan and appearance.
Here are a few simple tips:
✅ UV Protection (Optional)
To help maintain colour and finish over time — especially in brighter spots — you may choose to apply a light UV-protective spray. One quick coat is usually enough, with optional re-application every couple of years.
✅ Placement (Important)
For the longest life outdoors, install your plaque in a shaded or partially shaded area.
Like many outdoor decorative items, continuous direct sunlight and high heat over long periods can cause natural expansion or slight warping. Placing your plaque where it avoids intense sun helps it look its best long-term.
It is important to avoid installing your plaque in areas exposed to intense, prolonged sunlight. If you do plan to mount it in a very sunny position, we recommend applying a strong grab adhesive across the back surface as extra support to help prevent movement or warping over time.
🌿 Built for Real Use
Our plaques have been enjoyed across homes, gardens, schools, and public spaces for years. They are made to be durable, well-wearing, and suitable for outdoor display, but they are not intended to replace a traditional full metal plaque in the most extreme long-term outdoor conditions.
With sensible placement and optional UV care, yours will stay looking great for years to come.
